Qualitone 1-R horn speaker, minus the fibre bell.
This 1922 speaker has a 5-1/2 inch diameter wood base and a 2-5/8 inch diameter wood piece that couples the bell to the driver. There is a plated metal spring clip that holds a driver tight to the wood coupling. There is a fragment of paper from the original bell still embedded in the wood coupling piece. The bell was a simple cone shape with a Qualitone decal on it.
This is a very rare speaker, and mine is the only one I've seen. The original owner chose to buy a Baldwin Type C driver for this, and it was still in the clip when I found it, but any brand of driver could have been bought to use with it.
If anyone has one of these with an original bell, I'd like to get bell measurements.
